EVOLUTION OF THE HEARING AID
Hearing aids have changed immensely
since the first tubes and trumpet-style
hearing aids that were sold more than two
hundred years ago. Crude electrical
hearing aids emerged in the 1900s, with
earphones attached to a microphone that
connected to a battery box.
Although the aids would improve in
quality, users spent the next 50 years
wearing their hearing aid products on
their body. The industry changed when
the transistor was introduced in 1947.
Smaller, behind-the-ear aids began to
emerge, reliability improved through the
1960s, and sound processing advanced
in the 1970s.
The first digital hearing aids were worn
in the mid-80s, paving the way for
completely-in-the-canal hearing aids
and unprecedented commitments to
research through the 1990s.
Today, Artificial Intelligence works
with natural hearing abilities. These
sophisticated processors (computer chips)
can make thousands of adjustments
per second, providing unequalled
hearing performance in a wide variety
of situations. Canadian Hearing Care is
committed to providing leading edge
services and product innovation.
